0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Over 1,700 novel peptideins identified from ncORFs
  • Peptideins on immune cells as immunotherapy targets
  • OLMALINC essential for 85% of cancer cell lines

"The international TransCODE consortium has identified more than 1,700 previously unknown proteins, termed peptideins, from non-canonical open reading frames (ncORFs). The discovery significantly expands the known proteome. Many peptideins are located on immune cell surfaces and are potential targets for cancer immunotherapy. The gene OLMALINC, encoding a peptidein, was found essential for 85% of cancer cell lines tested in CRISPR screens. Data are being incorporated into public databases including GENCODE, UniProt, and PeptideAtlas."
